Replacing a Maclaw Wheel bearing

Use our bearing-change video together with the assembly instructions for your wheel. The video applies to all Maclaw Wheels and shows both bearings being replaced.

Before you start

You’ll need two people who can comfortably handle the wheel. Keep cats away throughout the work. Use the assembly instructions for your stand or wall mount to support, remove and refit the wheel, identify the tools and keep the washers and spacers in the right order.

Watch the bearing-change video

The video uses a wall-mounted wheel. The bearing-change method also applies to a freestanding wheel; use the assembly instructions for your version when removing and refitting it.

Which bearing to replace

The front bearing, 6205 2RS, is the one that usually needs replacing. Rear bearing replacement, 6204 2RS, is very rare. The video covers both, but that does not mean both need replacing each time.

Before using the wheel again

Follow the reassembly checks in the instructions for your version and refit both safety covers securely.
